Qualys regularly upgrades the Qualys Cloud Platforms for capacity expansion and maintenance purposes. We are implementing an upgrade that will allow Qualys to apply database and network enhancements to US Platform 2. This upgrade will happen on January 16th, 2017 and requires a 7-hour downtime starting at 10:00 AM PDT (6:00 PM UTC) and ending at 5:00 PM PDT (1:00 AM UTC).

During the maintenance window, the portal dashboard for Qualys Web Application Firewall (WAF) will not display new events and configuration changes for WAF cannot be made through the portal or the API. WAF sensors will continue to inspect HTTP traffic and protect your website based on the configuration they had before the maintenance begins.

After the maintenance is over, the WAF events generated during the maintenance window will gradually start appearing in the dashboard and WAF configuration changes can be resumed.

Customer Action
As part of the maintenance, Qualys will create a new configuration and log management service for WAF in Platform 2. To ensure proper functioning of the WAF, all Platform 2 WAF customers are required to change the “waf_service_url” in their WAF sensors to “https://rns.qg2.apps.qualys.com/”, between Jan 17th 2017 and April 17th 2017. Steps to change the waf_service_url:

1. ssh into the WAF sensor
2. From the Command Line Interface (CLI), type “set waf_service_url=https://rns.qg2.apps.qualys.com/”. Hit enter
3. Type “save”
4. Type “show” and make sure the new URL has been saved.
5. Make changes to your firewall to allow the WAF sensor to make external connections to the following IP range: 64.39.96.0/20

The current waf_service_url “https://rns.qualys.com/” will be deprecated for Platform 2 customers on April 17th 2017, 5:00 PM PDT ( 1:00 AM UTC ).

No other Qualys services will be impacted by this maintenance window.
